Day 10 of 17 (Colorado)

Miles Driven: 270 Today / 3,023 Total
Miles Hiked: Not Sure / 10.6 Total

Another nice morning of sleeping in until 8 before heading to Denver.  We roamed the streets for about an hour then headed to meet up with an old friend of mine for lunch.  He recommended this place called Casa Bonita because it would be fun for the kids. It definitely was. The kids got to roam this giant restaurant. Its sort of like Rainforest Cafe where you feel like you are outdoors with a full on waterfall, but also sort of like if you were allowed to walk through the towns in the Pirate ride at Disneyland, but all with a Mexican twist.

There was live entertainment with some silly show things for the kids like chasing a giant ape around and cliff divers diving off of that very big water fall I mentioned.  When I say restaurant, don't think small, it was VERY big with several floors, hidden caves for the kids to explore, an arcade, and even a talking well.

It was also pretty fantastic to catch up with Brett who I used to work with at ECCU, but he decided to move to CO to be closer to family.

We headed to the park with the kids after lunch then our long 4 hour drive to our hotel.  We haven't had to drive more than a couple of hours at a time for a few days so it was sort of a bummer to be stuck in the car that long again, but we made great progress in our audiobook. And driving through the mountains was, as is the common theme on this trip, quite beautiful.  Every river we saw Elijah would excitedly say "we should raft down that one too!" I'm glad he came around to enjoying fun things.

The best news though? We finally convinced the kids to skip the pool tonight in exchange for pizza in bed watching TV. That means they have a little more energy to burn in the hotel room than I'd like, but it also means I don't have to inhale chlorine fumes for an hour. I call that a win.
