I like food. I especially like free food. If you know me than this is not new information. If you don't know me I'm surprised you are reading this - Hello stranger, welcome to my brain - continue at your own risk.
So on Monday I got an email from ZPizza to tell me I could buy 1 get 1 free small pizza! So for $10 I could get 3-4 lunches out of that thing. Yes please!
My pizzas were amazing and I ate my 4 slices (leaving 12 more). I stuck the remaining slices all into 1 of the pizza boxes, tossed the extra box, and stuck the pizza in the fridge to enjoy for the rest of the week.
So here we are today. I go to get a couple slices of my amazing pizza for a late breakfast and discover 4 slices in the box. I ponder the reason 8 slices of pizza are missing. I figure I only THOUGHT I combined all the pizzas to 1 box and by mistake threw away the other pizza. SO sad. I like food. I do not like throwing away good food.
Fast forward to a little later in the day and I go to get my final 2 pieces for lunch. As I am eating them I am realizing the pizza is much more spicy than I remember. I look down to see pepper flakes on it. Now I know for a fact that these were NOT there before and I did NOT add them. So I ponder again.
I think somebody claimed my pizza! Somebody ate my other pizza. Somebody intended to eat what was remaining (hence the added pepper flakes). But who? Who would eat somebody's leftovers - some stranger's leftovers. Of course my head pictures this stranger to be a sneaky/greasy black and white villain like Boris Badenov.
And because I pictured the pizza thief in this way - I should be grossed out about the greasy black and white culprit touching my food, and I assume NOT washing their hands before doing so, then putting the pizza back in the box for me to eat.
But since I didn't ponder these ponderings until the pizza was done I figure it's too late to be grossed out. But beware...there is pizza bandit on the loose - and now I don't have delicious lunch for my last 2 days this week.

I Used To Want To Be A Teacher
Typically as I blog I imagine myself curled up with a
blanket hunched (yes hunched, I have HORRIBLE posture) over a laptop with
nothing but the sound of the keys as my fingers flail about haphazardly. Maybe
it’s a combination of watching Doogie Howzer and Sex in the City when I was home
sick in High School.
I find myself at moments during the day mentally laying out
what my next blog might contain. Most of
those never actually make it here because between church, friends, family and
work this is not my top priority.
But today one of those thoughts came to mind as I left a
conversation at work. A conversation
that just 6 months ago would have consisted of words that sound familiar but
don’t actually mean anything to me. A
conversation that a year ago would have sounded like a completely foreign
language. I found myself thinking – HOW do
I know THAT? How am I at a mere (nearly)
30 years old, having no technical training or education, having conversations
with developers and system gurus and understanding what they are saying? HOW, with a Liberal Studies degree and a goal
of teaching, did I end up here? I image
my life in parallel as a teacher (my goal) and a product analyst (my actual
job) and I do NOT see a connection.
It is a series of non-eventful events that got me
here. This is not where I would have
ever imagined ending up. But man oh man
do I love it. My work here energizes me
(most of the time). It is difficult and
forces me to dig deep and learn things I probably have no interest in
learning. It is long hours of research and
fixing problems. It is a perfect fit for
me.
So even though I don’t know how I ended up here I am so very
glad I did. I get to use passions and
skills I didn’t even know I had and now couldn’t imagine a job that didn’t let
me do that.
And with that, I end this very boring blog that was written
purely because I just really like my job and felt like expressing that
sentiment.

The Proof Is In The Numbers
I’m way behind on things like HOLIDAVIS or Christmas in general. I even just realized (literally as I was typing the word “Christmas” in the previous sentence) that I never wrote about Blakesgiving either!
I’m contemplating on if it is worth it to try and catch you up or just pick up from here.
I took pictures and what are pictures for if not sharing them? So you will most likely get a few catch up blogs in the week (or weeks) to come.
In the meantime I’d like to share with you what you (the readers) found most interesting in 2012.
