We're in Texas! But oh man were we in the car a LOT today. We left New Mexico for our first Texas stop, Cadillac Ranch. To tell that story, I start with another story. Have you seen that episode of the Office where Michael follows the GPS into a pond (or something like that). We didn't end up in a pond, but we did end up going past the Cadillac Ranch with a one way street that didn't let us get to it. The few miles we'd have to do to actually get to it ended up not being worth it SO we drove by it. Honestly, Carhenge in Nebraska is a lot cooler so we were OK with this minor mishap.
Then, the Grand Finale (not really, but our friend Steve might argue that it is the best spot in Texas). The Big Texan. Food, Fudge, and a bit of shopping. We also got to see a guy try to do the 72 ounce challenge and tap out with 20 minutes to go.
Then back in the car for another billion years to head to Dallas. It was about 9 hours of driving today. Generally, the rule is to do 6 hours at the most trying to do no more than 3-4 hour stretches, BUT we have broken that rule twice so far this trip.
Not recommended.
But audiobooks help. Good audiobooks help more. The mediocre one we are halfway through now helps less. However, the destination was quite grand. Some amazing BBQ with one of my most favorite "work friends" I've ever had. I love this woman and so glad I got to see Neya! AND of course Texas greeted us with rain/hail while we ate dinner.
Most of you won't care about the next part, but I got super excited to accidentally drive by this awesome place.
