Day 7 of 14 (Texas)

FromSan Antonio, TX

To: San Antonio, TX

Miles Driven: 79 Today / 2,436 Total

Miles Hiked:  5 / 29.8 Total

Well, hey there. We're still in San Antonio. In my defense we aren't actually staying in San Antonio all day. We are traveling around, we just end up BACK in San Antonio each night.

Today we started off in the Gruene Historic District. I assumed the kids would get super bored super fast, but we ended up spending a long time in an antique store of all places. The kids had fun finding random things (the place was huge). We also found a candied pecan store, because that's a thing, and picked up a few treats. I later discovered that when some people say "SALT water taffy" they mean SALT. I typically am a big fan, but it tasted like chewing salt with drop of fruit flavoring. There's a video. It was awful.

We met up with family again and Eli headed off with his cousin (2nd cousin?) for a sleepover so Team Davis shrunk to 4 before heading Alamo. We parked just as it started to pour (yet again) and got to walk the .5 miles in the pouring rain, in shorts and flip flops. Totally not complaining. I really love the rain.

I was told to be prepared to be very underwhelmed. It was fine. The beautiful, huge, live oaks were my favorite part. It was rather beautiful actually.

Then a short walk to River Walk to meet family for dinner.

Jordan decided about half way through the day that she wants us all to move to Texas.  When I asked her why her #1 reason was because people are just nicer in Texas. Truth.
